Telegram is a messaging application that permits users to send messages, initiate voice and video calls, exchange big files and produce groups that may include up to 200000 members. Its launched in 2013 by Pavel and Nikolai brothers. Many users started to use telegram due to its emphasis on confidentiality and security. It use end-to-end encryption to secure user messages and media from interception by third parties, including the telegram developers themselves. Additionally, Telegram offers secret chats that use messages programmed for self-destruction and are not conserved on Telegram's servers. It also allows the users to set a timer for messages to self destruct.Apart from its messaging features, Telegram supports bots, userbots which are automated programs capable of performing tasks such as sending reminders, browsing the web, or providing news updates.Users can subscribe to channels, which are similar to public broadcasts too.

WhatsApp vs Telegram

WhatsApp and Telegram are two popular messaging applications. However there are lot of difference

  1. First lets see privacy and security. WhatsApp use end-to-end encryption, that mean only the message sender and recipient can read its content.Telegram also use end-to-end encryption, but it provides supplementary features such as secret chats, which incorporate self-destructing messages that are not saved on Telegram's servers

  2. WhatsApp groups can include a maximum of 256 members only, but in telegram we can have up to 200,000 members. This makes Telegram an optimal alternative for massive communities and enterprises

  3. Both applications have easy interfaces and are obtainable on all platforms, and support  iOS, Android, and web browsers too. However Telegram offers more customization options like capacity to set custom backgrounds and themes

  4. WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, while Telegram operates independently. This may impact user preferences
